The player 2 push button on my Donkey Kong system has always been a bit sketchy. So the trackball on my Atari Centipede system has been pretty “wonky” for a while now. Like an amateur, I used to spray WD40 directly on the trackball to keep it spinning freely until I learned how bad that stuff is for ANYTHING. Atari Tempest system exhibits odd behavior before it warms up. After turning the system on, the level selection screens operate fine: However, when game play begins, the game arena is not displayed and the player character and enemies are displayed randomly on the screen: After the system has time to warm up, game play operates fine.

About 6 years after I bought them, I finally got around to installing Lithium battery upgrade kits into my Joust and Defender systems. Most Williams systems of this era were equipped with a 3 pile AA battery pack to maintain system configuration setting and the high score table. My Williams Defender system is currently displaying it’s video image as follows: Jonathan at Arcade Repair Tips seems to think it is a board issue and suggested reading an article on MikesArcade website on general issues with Williams systems. He also suggested reaching out to Ken/YellowDog on the KLOV Forums. I sent Ken a private message to get his thoughts on the matter....
